Petrarch! - New light and sound installation at Telefonplan in Stockholm!

673 years ago an Italian poet and Renaissance humanist wrote a letter, describing the ascent of a mountain:

The mountain is a very steep and almost inaccessible mass of stony soil. Many, also, are the hills that lie between, and we must ascend, by a glorious stairway, from strength to strength. At the top is at once the end of our struggles and the goal for which we are bound.

The tower at Telefonplan is widely visible - but what is going on inside? During the dark ceason the light is switched on, brighter by each floor. Inside the tower along the stairs a visitor can listen to the recording of Petrarchs letter, while climbing on to the top of the tower.

This is a collaboration between the artist Ebba Bohlin and Vasakronan.
